Little Viking Review #FluffyXMas

I got to review a diaper from Little Viking for the upcoming Merry Fluffy Christmas Giveaway the first week in December.  There were 37 in stock fabrics to choose from.  I chose the Cranky Clouds.  It was just SO CUTE, I couldn't help it.

Liner spread out
The diaper is a trim fit, 3 x 3 snap down rise and super soft microfleece liner.  The liner is made of 3 layers of organic bamboo fleece and you fold it to fit as needed or as you prefer.
Washing instructions on liner.

I chose snap closure as Boaz tends to unvelcro things just like Lorelei did in her diaper wearing days.

Diaper with magnet instructions
The diaper arrived halfway prepped so just needed a few more wash/dry cycles to reach maximum absorption.  The diaper came with a little magnet, business card size with diaper washing instructions.  This is always good when we are asking others to do anything with our diapers!  Hubbys, moms, mom-in-laws, etc.
Isn't it so cute?!?

I LOVED the diaper!  When I was showing my husband, Chris, he said, "Never been pooped in."  Isn't that like a man?  It was so cute and worked so well!  No leaks of any sort.

I loved all of the loving details!

Though I was provided the diaper to review all opinions are my own.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have!  And check out Little Viking's store on Facebook

During the Merry Fluffy Christmas Giveaway Little Vikings will be giving a way a cloth diaper as well as several cloth wipes.

All of the diapers are made by Linda Wilson, the owner of Little Vikings, at her home.  She is also offering AI2 diapers with a bamboo fleece soaker that can be topped with either wicking jersey or squishy bamboo velour.

Blurry because my model was on the move!

Perfect fit!  (Don't be fooled by Boaz's done-lap as in he done lapped over his diaper)

Aiden Goose Designs Review #FluffyXMas

Aiden Goose Designs is a sponsor for the Merry Fluffy Christmas Giveaway that is coming up the first week in December.  I was sent a pair of longies for Boaz for me to review so I can give you my thoughts and opinions on the product.

If you don't know what longies are: Longies are long pants can be made out of fleece or wool that fit over cloth diapers to keep baby and bedding etc. from getting wet in the night.

Now, I'm going to give you fair warning.  You will have one problem with Aiden Goose Designs...there are a lot of super cute fabric choices!  Seriously, 91 fabrics in the album to choose from!  I ended up choosing Monsters of Rock because I thought my husband, Chris, would really like it since he likes to play drums.
Aren't they cute?  The little tag on the back says, "Aiden Goose Designs"
The size chart is as follows (please keep in mind that inseams are completely customizable)

Small:
 Rise-15
Waist 13-15
Longies inseam 8

Medium:
Rise 17
Waist 15-17
Longies Inseam 9

Large:
Rise 19
Waist 17-19
Inseam 11

XL
Rise 20.5
Waist 19-20.5
Inseam 12

Alright, so we know that Boaz is hefty, right?  I chose Large with the inseam of 10.  I knew that would still make them a little long for him but I was ok with that.  I am expecting him to slim down and get longer soon with his added mobility and I want these to last a little longer.  Also, I am a sneaky mama.  He doesn't like blankets or socks, so I thought if his pants were a little longer his feet would be a little warmer, ha!

Every time I got him so I could get a rear view he started crawling away from me!

Something I have found SUPER interesting...Boaz has worn the longies twice...both times Chris has commented on how much he likes the pants. You might not think that is a big deal, but he rarely comments on clothes and especially not Boaz's!  So, I made a great fabric choice, but the product is super cute as well.  You can choose a great fabric and if the product isn't cute and functional the fabric choice means nothing.

Now, function: I had Boaz in a triple stuffed Smartipants diaper because he is a super soaker and I don't change in the middle of the night unless he does the "big job." The longies worked perfectly and were super comfortable for him as well as for me when I held him at various points in the night.  There is a super soft wide elastic in the waistband that holds them perfectly in place without being too tight.

My model sometimes doesn't want to cooperate.

Please let me know if you have any questions!  While, I was provided a pair of longies to review, the opinions are purely my own.

Also, don't hesitate to check out Aiden Goose Designs on Facebook (you can access the store from there).  And get excited for the Merry Fluffy Christmas Giveaway where you can win a gift certificate to pick out your own pair of longies in the fabric of your choice!

If you don't cloth diaper your baby but still have a super soaker or are looking for a super comfortable pair of lounge pants for your little one I think you would be happy with this product as well!

Hope for the Weary Mom Book Review

Update: Comment #2 won!

I was able to get my hands on a pre release copy of Hope for the Weary Mom book. The book is out now. You need to get your hands on it. Well, let me see: only if you are a mom who is tired, sometimes want to run away from your kids, and you sometimes don't have nice things to say (to yourself, your kids, your husband, the stranger in the supermarket, etc).

I love this book because it is real. The authors know what it is like to be a mom. They are there right now. They don't sugarcoat but they also don't leave you to linger in the mess. They offer Hope. The Hope offered is backed up by Scripture that can be clung to. I don't know about you but I need that.

The book was released two days ago. For two days it was offered free on Amazon. 26,000 copies were given away. See?!? You are not alone in your feelings as a mom! If you would like to win a copy for yourself please leave a comment telling me why you would like to win Hope for the Weary Mom. I will pick a winner using Random.org on November 1.

Laundry talk

This is not the post in which I air my figurative dirty laundry. Rather this is the post in which I tell you how I've been doing our laundry lately.

First, soapnuts. They are natural and you put about five in a little bag and throw the bag in with your laundry. When the washer agitates a soapy substance comes from the soapnuts. When you move the clothes from the washer to dryer you set the bag out to dry. The bag of soapnuts can be used around 4-5 times. I do 4. Now, am I happy with them? Yes! Cheaper than detergent, natural and no chemicals? Yes, please! Now I did the sniff test on a pair of socks that I knew would be stinky (I love my family but I am not smelling anyone's undies!) and they passed! The clothes just smell clean sans scent. In other words: no mountain fresh and summer breeze etc.

Now on to drying: wool dryer balls. I have four and they separate your clothes and help then dry faster (saving you money) and help eliminate some static ( but not all).

I am very happy with these products. Let me know if you have any questions.

App Review

Do you like these app reviews?  I know I always like to know what other people find useful.  But please, let me hear from you about this.  If you are not a fan don't be skeered to tell me!

I am endeavoring to be more intentional (should be my word of the year, huh?) in memorizing Scripture.  I have found an app called Bible Minded.  You know I have the free version.  Anyway, you can choose the passage you want to memorize.  Then you can choose learning activities that will assist you in learning like: flash cards, type it in, fill in the blanks, record and verify.  When you mark a verse or passage as memorized you can set alerts to remind you to review your verses.

Rockin Green Soap Review and Giveaway

The winner is Kristina S. With comment # 22 I cloth diaper Lorelei. Or I did. When she was 26 months old she walked into my bedroom, laid on the floor and put her legs in the air and said, "No more diapers Mommy, only panties." Um, ok. I think I can accomodate that. So, she wears diapers at church and at night time.

Cloth diapers are not for everyone. However they were for us. It took a little while for me to figure the whole thing out because none of my friends seemed to be doing it. Now, I know several people. Yay! First kink I had to work out for myself was what kind of diaper I liked best. I know some people who use several different types of diapers with their babies. I didn't know that I was going to be one but I did turn into a diaper snob. Like I packed up everything that wasn't a smartipants diaper. And if I didn't know I was going to be a diaper snob, I surely did not know that I was going to be a diaper detergent snob. But I was.

Rockin Green Soap is awesome! I found them through a cloth diaper chat on twitter and never looked back. You can check them out at www.rockingreensoap.com

What I like is that they have different formulas that you can choose from depending on your water quality. Hard rock, classic rock, and soft rock. They even have funk rock if you have ammonia buildup in your diapers. The scents are incredible, but your diapers will come out unscented, which is good, because you know you want to smell that sweet baby smell!

Recently Rockin Green Soap sent me their new Remix soap in their new Earth, Wind and Orchids to try. The remix formula is even better for sensitive skin! And I should also mention that the detergent does not have to just be used for cloth diapers. It can work for your child's other clothes as well as your own! I heart Rockin Green Soap!

The good news for you: I have the opportunity to give away a 45/90 load bag of detergent in your choice of scent/formula! There are several ways to enter!

1. Subscribe to my blog and leave me a comment that you are a follower!

2. Tweet on Twitter about the giveaway! Be sure to use @rockingreensoap and @dawnini Leave a comment that you did this.

3. Tell your friends on Facebook and leave the link in a new comment.

Giveaway will close on July 31 at 7 pm cst and winner will be chosen using random.org

Well I was not disappointed.  Very easy to use and looked great! AND as an added bonus it has 10 spf. I would encourage you to try it!  Let me know if you like it!
