Six Month Doctor Visit

Lorelei went to her six month appointment a couple of weeks ago (sorry for the time lapse-being a full time mommy, wife, teacher and student is intense!). She was 16 pounds 11 ounces. I really expected her to be a little more because she is solid. She did not want the nurse to measure her head and continually swatted her hand away. Chris and I stood back and giggled to ourselves to see her like this with someone else. It made me feel better about her nails that are sometimes too long or the gunk that is sometimes in her ears. When Lorelei decides she does or does not want something to happen she is firm in her convictions.

Dr. Scott had to fight her to examine her ears. He then talked to us about getting Dr. Dobson's book The Strong-Willed Child. He said he had never had to tell someone to start reading that book when their child was six months old. Chris and I are reading Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tripp (yes, I did not put his first name because I cannot remember it and I am typing this as we are driving back from NC). The book is about how behaviors are based on heart attitudes and how to intentionally and purposefully point your child to the cross.

Dr. Scott said Lorelei is ahead in several of her skills. Chris and I are praying for guidance because to whom much is given, much is required. We want to train her in the way she should go.

I heard the Duggers talking about their strong willed child. Jim Bob was saying that the best advice they ever got about her was that the beauty in a strong willed child was that if you teach them the right things, they will hold those convictions very strongly.
