She Colors My Day

The She Colors My Day project began when a mother named Annette, dying of breast cancer, created a keepsake for the four daughters she was preparing to leave behind. Annette sent a CD of she and her daughters singing to her many friends and family. Unbeknown to Annette, her act of love would the inspiration for her friend, Chrsitina Carlino, founder of Project Miracle, to ignite the She Colors My Day movement- a celebration of the never ending bonds of mothers and daughters. The now worldwide She Colors My Day movement embarks upon a global journey to create for a cure. Inspired by a mother's love, this every widening circle of caring will benefit the Susan G. Komen for a Cure Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation's/Women's Cancer Research Group biomarker project. Hear the story in Cristina's own words here.

So how can you get involved?

Color-We can start by taking the first step to coloring someone else's day through a platform we all know well-Facebook. The She Colors My Day pink crayon is a Facebook application created to be shared with those we love. The pink crayon can be virtually passed around on Facebook so we can all help to create for a cure.
Sing Along-The "She Colors My Day" song co-written by Christina Carlino and Stuart Mathis for Christina's daughter has been recorded by multi-Grammy award winner, Amy Grant. Download the "She Colors My Day Song" and video and help to support this organization. A portion of net proceeds from the song supoorts the She Colors My Day project, benefiting Susan G. Komen for a Cure and the Entertainment Industry Foundation's/Women's Cancer Research Group.

Spread the Word-the ultimate goal of the She Colors My Day project is to support mothers and daughters and create a cure. If you're inspired by this project, please help us share the love by publishing a post on your blog this week that celebrates the special mother/daughter relationships in your life.

Kelly's Cake Off For a Cause

Electrolux and Kelly Ripa are partnering in supporting ovarian cancer research!  While I have not suffered from ovarian cancer I do have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) so I do feel like I have probably thought more about my ovaries than the average woman (unless you are in the same boat as me...then you know)

Kelly and accomplished master baker and cake decorator Buddy Valastro, from TLC's "Cake Boss," recently joined forces at a fun event to bake lavishly decorated cakes in support of The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund(OCRF).  To add to the excitement, five teams of baking enthusiasts were invited to take part in Kelly's Cake Off, where they used what they learned from Kelly and the Cake Boss, to decorate their own cakes.

Although you might not get to taste these virtual masterpieces, (and it is a shame, isn't it?), you can still weigh in on the results!  By visitng Kelly-Confidential.com, you can cast a vote for your favorite cake from Kelly's Cake Off.

For every vote cast, Electrolux will donate $1 to OCRF as part of its $500,000 commitment to help fight ovarian cancer!  And since love is on everyone's mind these days, you can even decorate and send a special virtual cake to a friend, family member or someone you love.  For every cake sent, Electrolux will donate another $1 to OCRF.  Plus, Buddy's top cake decorating tips are available -- sure to inspire baking enthusiasts and novices alike.  (I am an enthusiast and novice at the same time--is that possible?)

If that's not enough to get you to click over, everyone who logs onto the site and sends a virtual cake will be automatically entered for a chance to win every baker's dream: a stylish new Inductions Range from Electrolux!  This induction range is perfect for melting chocolate and cooking delicate foods and sauces, more responsive than gas, and eco-friendly, too.

Want to win a new Washer and Dryer and Help Others Too?

Fridgidaire is teaming up with Jennifer Garner (one of my favorite actresses-think Alias) to support Save the Children's U.S. Programs, dedicated to helping children living in poverty in the United States.  They have a new Spin & Win game online that gives you the opportunity to win gift cards for spending quality time with your little ones-whether it's curling up with some new books, starting a craft project or taking in a family flick.  (We are not to the movie part at our house yet!)  They are giving away a prize a day!  Plus, the greatest thing?  You might win a brand new Frididaire Affinity washer and dryer, and they come with time-saving features that give you more time for the important things in life.  (And who couldn't use more time?)

Best of all, every time you play, Frigidaire will donate $1 to Save the Children, as part of their $250,000 commitment to support Save the Children's CHANGE program, dedicated to providing nutritious snacks and promoting healthier lifestyles for children living in poverty in the United States

So, join me in playing a game for a great cause and maybe you will win a washer and dryer too!  (And who couldn't use a new one of those!)
