Christmas Tradition 7: Three Gifts

http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/karenr/karenr0805/karenr080500009/3038740-three-presents-isolated-on-a-white-background.jpgWith March babies the first Christmas seems almost like a trial run.  A eight month old.  Both have been walking or on the brink of walking at this age and love all to do with Christmas!  Peeking in the oven while something is baking...checking out the nativity etc.

I realized on Lorelei's first Christmas that things could easily get out of hand.  She is the first (and was only) grandchild for all three sets of grandparents.  She still is the one and only granddaughter and Boaz the one and only grandson.

So, you see, the need for boundaries...especially when we want the focus to be on Christ the King not...when can we open OUR presents.

This is loosely tied to the gifts of the three wisemen.  But this is what works for our family.  One gift is for your heart.  One gift is something practical (I loosely use the term need)  and one gift is a want.  I do this for Chris too.

So for example:  For Boaz this year:
Spiritual: Little People Nativity set
"Need": CD player for room
Want:  I'm thinking two seater wagon haven't gotten the go ahead from the hubs yet

For Lorelei:
Spiritual: Two Seeds Family Worship CDs
"Need": CD player for room
Want: I'm thinking bilibo  Again, haven't gotten the go ahead yet.

For Chris: He never reads my blog...but as soon as I type it here this will be the ONE time he reads it unprompted.  He does read it when I tell him...hey I wrote about you...you should read it...but then I have to tell him how to get here etc.  But remember that Better than Butterflies post?  Tears people, truly I love that man!
