She Calls Me Dr. Mom or God Allowed a Dream to be Fulfilled

Chris and I will have been married 10 years next April.  10 YEARS!  We wanted to have babies...lots of them.  It wasn't happening.  <Insert long story here>  So, when I finally was ok with the thought that God might not have kids in His plan for us, Chris and I prayerfully decided I should start my doctorate.  I began the doctoral studies the middle of July 2008.  I found out I was pregnant July 24, 2008.

Oh yes.

So for a minute I thought maybe I would stop with my Ed.S. you know just in case.  I remember one night when Lorelei was about three months old, we had company, and I had TWO papers due...Chris was showering to get ready for work and I cried outside his shower that I couldn't do it.  Ugly cry here, people. His answer as he peeped around the shower curtain, "Don't."  He gets me.  That was all it took for me to get myself together and finish well for the sake of my daughter.  I want her to know what it looks like to finish what she has started.  That what God has called us to He will not leave us alone in.

Has it been easy?  NO!  (We were blessed with another miracle baby along the way!)

And you want to know something even crazier?  God has changed our circumstances in such a way that I can stay at home with our kids.  Was the doctorate a waste?  Absolutely not!  I know that God will use it at some point in my life.  It might be next year, it might be 10 years from now.

People have been asking Chris, "Is she going to make you call her Dr.?"  His answer, "No, I paid for it."  I love that man!  Meanwhile, on the home front, Lorelei, (unprovoked) has been calling me Dr. Mom and has amped up  coming to me with her injuries and aches and pains.  God has a sense of humor.

Thank you to all my friends and family for your thoughts and prayers during this process, especially at the end.  I know that prayers to the Father are what carried me through.

I am SO looking forward to mothering without being in school or writing a dissertation!
