To Our Girl on Her First Birthday

Dear Lorelei,

I want to start by saying how much your Mommy and Daddy love you! We prayed for you for a long, long time! Psalm 139: 13-14 says, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

Mommy and Daddy are so thankful for the blessing you are to us in our lives. We do believe that you are fearfully and wonderfully made! We pray everyday that you will grow and learn to believe this as well and to know that God's works are wonderful for yourself!

I know it is hard to imagine but God loves you even more than Mommy and Daddy.

You have grown so quickly and I am afraid I will not be able to remember everything that has happened this year!

Carrying you while I was pregnant, was so beautiful! I never felt so alive. Feeling your life and interacting with you and playing games, even before you were born...

The day you were born: AMAZING!!! Everyone tried to tell me that I would love you so much...I knew that...but I was not prepared. I did not know that love like that existed. It was overwhelming!

I didn't know if I would ever get to hold you or change your diaper...your dad wouldn't give you up! I was so thankful I was the only one who could feed you because that guaranteed a little bit of special time for just me and you! I wish I could somehow paint you a picture of what your dad's immediate love for you looked like!

Speaking of a Father's Love, you have made my salvation so much more REAL. To read about how God gave His only Son to pay for my sins...

You have grown SO quickly! You have been in a rush to meet all of your milestones! You got your first tooth at four months, started signing at two months, and talking at five months. You started cruising at six months and walking by the end of seven! You never liked baby food and went straight to grown up food at six months....thank goodness you already had teeth!

Right now you think dancing and tickling others is so much fun....and me....I think you are so much fun!

Love,
Mommy
