Half-Birthdays

Before I begin I feel I must explain that I took an intentional break from blogging because I had to use every free second to revise my dissertation.  The time crunch is on to get it defended this semester so I don't have to pay for another semester.  So, that being said, I turned it in last night and am now feeling a little lost as I try to wrap my mind around my "new normal."  Unless there are more revisions to be made!

Ok, on to the fun stuff!  Lorelei celebrated her half-birthday on the 26th.  She was tickled to find out that she is now three and a half!  She was a little disappointed that she didn't get to half (oh my word that was a typo, but I'm leaving it because that is funny stuff!) a birthday party.  (Note to self: next year I think I will let her do something with ONE friend since her birthday is kinda a big shin-dig.  I may even let her do something in the next week or so...because you know what people?  Her half-birthday is a big deal to me too!)  Anyway, Lorelei is in a super fun time of her life and I don't want to miss a minute.  We weighed her and she is 30 lbs 8 oz.

Funny Lorelei story:  Her mother unfortunately is known to say, "Oh crap."  Ladylike I know.  As a result a little three and a half year old I know also says it.  I can't really get mad at her.  I just explained that it isn't very nice and I need to work on not saying it as well.  So when she says it and I give her the look she says one of several things, "I said oh crip not oh crap."  Funny!  or "Oh crap move-my-clip-to-yellow."  Also funny.  The clip comment is from preschool where they do a red/yellow/green behavior system.  More on that a different day.  And now she is trying to change her expression totally and this is what I heard all day yesterday, "Oh Pippa."  Don't have a clue where that came from.
Sleeping Lorelei after being up with growing pains.

Boaz is now half.  As in half a year, or, less awkwardly, six months.  At this point he is a laid back and happy guy.  I hope he stays that way because between his mama and his sissy things are a little dramatic up in here.  Boaz is my BFF in My Fitness Pal because I get to deduct calories for carrying that guy around!  He is 23 pounds! As in 7 1/2 pounds less than his sister.  As in wears 18 month clothes and some 24 month clothes.   And he is a hugger.  And a kisser.  And as Chris likes to say, "on the eve of crawling."  He gets up on all fours but usually just pivots his booty to a new spot and repeats.  He has thrown a fit or two...like when he got into his sister's markers and then I took them away...I forget how soon the training part of parenting creeps in.

Alright, that's all I have for today folks.  I'll be here all week.  (That is what Lorelei is always saying.  Thank you Monsters, Inc.)
Boaz was trying to figure out why I would be on the other couch when I could be holding him.
