A Little Word on Flirting

So you know I am an old fart.  Not my best opening line, huh?  In the local newspaper this past Sunday there was a story called, "The Power of the Flirt."  Seriously.

The premise of the article is that women get farther in life through flirting.  Like buying cars for 20% less than someone who is just viewed as friendly rather than flirtatious.  The article gave examples and almost steps to take of being flirtatious when describing ways in which successful women have used flirting to get further in their life.

Someone was interviewed about their negative view on flirting and basically the reason they were against it was because it went against all of the battles that have been fought for women's rights.

I personally do not agree with flirting.  Unless it is with your husband.  (Marriage is hard and things like flirting with your spouse can help. Maybe I will write more about marriage.  On a different day.)
What does the Bible say about flirting?  "Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."  (Proverbs 31:30, NIV)

So, what are your thoughts on flirting?  Did this just rub me the wrong way?   These issue are important to me as I have a sweet little girl I am trying to help grow up.

Although I imagine the view is quite uncommon, I share yours on this. To be more precise, I hate flirting directed to anyone other than one's spouse (meaning by extension that I think there is no place for it in a single person's life). :)

You said it! I think if it hadn't taken me three days to get to finish this post it might have been a little more coherent. Glad you were able to get my point! :)
